All marine turtle species are on the verge of
extinction. The
Olive Ridley
Turtle
(Lepidochelys
olivacea) lay
their eggs on
nearby beaches.
The over hunting
of eggs by man
and animals
moved us in 1994
to create a
project to
protect them.
Up till
2006, more than
58,000 turtle
hatchlings have
been released
into the sea.
Such
releases are
carried out
between
September and
the beginning of
January and has
become an
ecotourism
activity of
great interest
for visitors.
